THE LANDSCAPE IS ALWAYS TEACHING
My approach to landscape has been shaped by years of observing New York’s urban spaces; considering both what people say they want and how they actually use a place.
I apply the same observation to plants: looking beyond how they are expected to perform and paying attention to how they actually perform. Every site brings a different combination of people, exposure, soil, water, construction and maintenance. Established principles matter, but so does recognizing when the landscape is telling you something different.
